About Us

This is Vanier's newscast representing the student body at Jean Vanier Catholic Secondary School. We are proud to give the latest coverage, and updates of different events, and activities happening in Jean Vanier CSS.

This newscast is produced by the Grade 12 Communications Technology students and some volunteer students, and is supervised by our Executive Producer Mr. Thomas G.

Each episode is available through our RSS feeds and online in our website. We have different RSS feeds designed to deliver each content to our subscribers. Also, each episode is available for download through our download page.

So far, Vanier Vibe has run for 2 season composed of 10 episodes and 4 special episodes. Now, we have Season 2 running.

Why is it called Vanier Vibe? What's with the V2?

Vanier Vibe was the voted name of the newscast out of about 7 choices of names during a brainstorming meeting of the pioneer cast and crew. It was selected since the name was in parallel to the already existing Vanier Vision newsletter targeted to parents, and the Vanier Verve which is the weekly newsletter targeted to teachers.

Also the idea why Vanier Vibe was selected is because of the acronym for it, which was VV. It looked like a W, but it was suggested to use V2 instead of VV since we are able to form a better logo for it and that V2 stands for Version 2 since a previous newscasting service, named JV TV, was produced but had less hype and was harder to distribute during its time.

How long does it take for you to produce the next episode?

It takes about 3-4 weeks at most but might take longer especially when we are switching to a new season with new cast and crew, not to mention we also have seasonal breaks which is a major cause of delay at most.

Why do you need new cast and crew for each half season?

As much as we want the cast and crew to stay longer, we can't. Since this is a production within the Grade 12 Communications Technology Course in Jean Vanier, we can't stop our cast and crew from leaving each semester. Thus, each semester marks a new half of a season with a new cast and crew.

Why are your content distributed over the internet?

We distribute our content over the internet since it is easier to reach our target audience. Since we not only target our current students, but also previous students who want to be updated about their Alma Mater, and also incoming students who plan to attend Jean Vanier.
